Tower Flintlock Pistol, 1786 Stock Cartouche
Mechanical function is very good, Australian marked barrel
This is a round barrel 65 caliber Tower Flintlock pistol and has Perth F C on the barrel and to the right is a Crown over GP which is an English definitive Proof mark since 1637 and a Crown over V which is a London inspection mark since 1670. There is a nice Crown with the broad arrow acceptance mark to the right of the large Crown over GR on the lock. On the wood just behind the lock is a very nice Crown over 1796 cartouche and also a letter C above that also a small crown to the right of the tang of the trigger guard. The smooth bore barrel is 9” long and is 15 ½” overall in length. The mechanical function is very good tight and the wood is not damaged or cracked except for a very small grain crack at the escutcheon screw on the left side. The ramrod appears to be a later replacement.
